BANKING stocks enjoyed another good day’s trading yesterday as the ISEQ index of shares in Dublin crept forward marginally by 12.12, or just under half a percent, to 2,758.31 points.

Food group Iaws, which ownes Cuisine de France, has announced its interim results for the half year ended January 31, 2008.

Food giant IAWS has today reported pre-tax profits of €143m for the year to the end of July, compared to 123,539 in 2006, a 15.8% increase.

The ISEQ index of Irish shares was down this morning, falling 12 points to 8694.72.

IAWS Group made it clear to the markets yesterday it was not going to allow its two strategic land banks in Cork and Dublin to dictate its future strategy.

SHARES in Dublin closed in positive territory again as investors welcomed positive news flow from the US. The Irish Index finished up 35.65 points at 7,551.93.

SHARES in the Irish market continued in positive movement. The ISEQ added 71.62 points to 7950.83 with bank and construction stocks leading the charge.

THE ISEQ Index closed in positive territory yesterday. The Dublin Exchange was 16.27 points stronger at 7879.21 although there was little in the way of news flow to drive the market.
