Market benefits from positive US news flow

SHARES in Dublin closed in positive territory again as investors welcomed positive news flow from the US. The Irish Index finished up 35.65 points at 7,551.93.

Market heavyweight AIB gained 14c and was €18.90 at the closing bell. Bank of Ireland added 18c, ending the day at €14.13 with nearly 5 million shares changing hands. Anglo Irish and Irish Life and Permanent were 28c and 20c weaker at €11.92 and €18.40.

Grafton Group increased by 15c and was €10 even. Kingspan Group eased back 5c to €13.60.

Other movers included Paddy Power following some of the favourite teams for the World Cup being knocked out over the weekend. They advanced 43c crossing the line at €13.98. IAWS Group was 25c ahead at €14.05.
