Market ends in positive territory

SHARES in the Irish market continued in positive movement. The ISEQ added 71.62 points to 7950.83 with bank and construction stocks leading the charge.

The financial sector gained 214.10 points overall with AIB jumping 33c to €19.47 with over two-and-a-half million shares changing hands. Bank of Ireland also finished in positive territory, up 18c to €15.25. Anglo Irish added 31c to €13.70 while Irish Life and Permanent was €18.35 at the closing bell.

CRH jumped 50c to €27.75. Elsewhere in the construction sector Grafton Group climbed 2c ending the day at €10.52. Kingspan Group and McInerney rose 15c and 2c.
