Market rises as trading stays light

in Dublin traded within a narrow band yesterday amid light summer trading volumes. The ISEQ index rose for the third day in succession to close 1.24 points stronger at 5397.48.

Among the financials, Bank of Ireland was unchanged at €10.80. Insurance company FBD holdings fell from Tuesday's record high, losing 45c to €16.55.

Food stocks were mixed. IAWS Group gained 25c to €10.35 while Kerry Group eased 10c to €17.20. Budget airline Ryanair added 9c to €4.25 as concerns over the rising cost of oil eased temporarily. Elsewhere Datalex and Eircom Group, both reporting results later in the week, closed unchanged at 44c and €1.45 respectively.
