Forget the Saipan Two and salute some real Irish heroes

FOLLOWING a weekend which threw up a handful of new Irish heroes — notably world champions Sam Lynch and Dermott Lennon, and the new Gaelic football champions from Armagh — it was both maddening and pathetic to see so many so-called sports journalists in this country still beating the same monotonous tune on the ‘Roy Keane in Saipan’ drum.

Put it away kids it's boring!

Put simply, any proper sports fan with vision other than the tunnel variety simply doesn't care anymore about what obscenely overpaid last-16 squad member said what to whom and did what to which player, where and when.
