Irish Red Cross facing a political dilemma

RECENT media reports said the Red Cross in Kiev were serving tea to the camped out supporters of the opposition in the cold. Nice.

Irish Red Cross facing a political dilemma

I suppose if the next UK elections are held in the winter the Red Cross will be giving out soup to the Tories on the streets of London. Why not?

Recent media reports also said that the International Red Cross was pressing “for urgent help for Fallujah”. Now that’s the kind of work I thought the Red Cross were involved in.

Yet the head of the Red Cross in Ireland, David Andrews (Old Fianna Fáil), is keeping quite.

You see, if David calls for the Red Cross to be allowed into Fallujah, his actions will upset Willie O’Dea and Brian Cowen (Young, arrogant, selfish and insular Fianna Fáil.)

This could also imply that the wholesale slaughter in Falluja is being carried out by those soldiers stopping off in Shannon for tea and scones.

You see, because Ireland is blatantly supporting the war effort against Iraq - which has not got the support of the UN - we are being sucked deeper and deeper into full participation in a major war crime.

Is it any wonder that the French and the Germans opted against the war - even if it meant having to endure the scorn of the coalition of the willing by being called ‘Old Europe’.
