Gardaí investigate Cork hit-and-run after moped rider seriously injured

A moped rider was hospitalised with serious injuries after a hit-and-run collision in Cork city on Friday evening.

The collision occurred at approximately 5.30pm on the North City Link Road in Blackpool, when a grey Skoda estate collided with the moped.

The Skoda left the scene following the collision.

The moped rider was taken to Cork University Hospital, where they were receiving treatment for serious injuries on Friday night.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the serious hit-and-run collision.

Road users who were travelling in the Blackpool area between 4.30pm and 6pm and who may have camera footage, including dashcam recordings, are asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.

The collision caused significant traffic disruption in the area on Friday evening.

Road closures, traffic diversions and a substantial garda presence were reported while emergency services attended the scene.
