Wiser next time

THE one good thing to come out of the recent budget shambles is that the Government knows what will not be tolerated next time.

Wiser next time

We need to cut the public sector by 20%-to-30%, but not frontline staff.

No cuts in education — in fact the construction industry should be kept busy building and renovating schools.

Restore the cervical cancer vaccine scheme and pay for it from the €69m promised to the racing sector. Reduce taxation on the lower and middle income groups and increase it on the upper levels. Every other country is doing this — they can’t all be wrong.

If the Government will not tackle public service reform urgently, then it no longer has a mandate to govern and must go back to the people.
