John Daly’s article entitled ‘What Lies Beneath’ (Forum, Aug 3) is timely in light of the recent publication of the Green Paper on Defence.

WE face a seismic choice as to whether we allow private or public equity to refinance our (and I stress our) banks.

THE one good thing to come out of the recent budget shambles is that the Government knows what will not be tolerated next time.

WE really are different. In every other western democracy, when a politician is shown to have been compromised financially, he resigns or is fired.

IRELAND is in an ideal situation to lead the way into the next 50 years, as we have a thriving economy, that would allow us to invest now, for the future.
