Students invited to translate

STUDENTS from secondary schools all over Europe including Ireland will have a chance to become a translator for a day as part of a project to encourage people to choose it as a career.

Students invited to translate

They will be able to choose from which and into which of the EU’s 23 official languages, including Irish, they want to translate a specially selected text.

The competition will take place on the same day throughout the EU, on November 14, and professional translators working for the EU will judge the result.

One winner from each country will spend two days in Brussels learning how the EU and its translation service works.
