High temperature warning continues, with up to 30C expected in Munster and other areas

A high temperature warning is still covering most of the country, with temperatures of up 30C expected in some places this Thursday.
The status yellow high temperature warning - issued for Munster, Connacht and counties Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan and Donegal - came into effect at noon on Wednesday. The forecaster has warned maximum temperatures will be in excess of 27C, combined with overnight minimum temperatures in excess of 15C.
Met Éireann said potential impacts may include water safety issues due to increased use of lakes, beaches and waterways, uncomfortable sleeping conditions, heat stress, forest fires and drought.
The high temperature warning will be in effect until 6am tomorrow.
Friday is expected to remain warm and dry with light to moderate northerly breezes. It will be sunniest over Munster and Leinster with highest temperatures of 25C and 28C, warmest in the south.
Saturday will be dry with moderate northerly breezes. The best of the sunshine will be over Munster and Leinster with highest temperatures of 21C to 25C. Saturday night will be dry with clear spells, a few patches of mist and fog and lowest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.
Sunday will be dry with sunny spells and northerly breezes. Again, it will be warmest over Leinster and Munster with the best of the sunshine and highs of 21C to 25C, promising a sunny All-Ireland hurling final.
Looking further ahead, Monday to Thursday is expected to remain largely dry with mainly north to northwest breezes. Munster and Leinster will be warm with more sunshine and highest temperatures of 20C to 25C.
