Cocaine and guns seized in garda raid
Gardaí today seized cocaine with a street value of €100,000 and two shotguns in a raid aimed at disrupting the drugs trade in Dublin.
Around 1.25 kilograms of the drug, along with cash and drug dealing equipment, were discovered when officers from Store Street’s Crime Task Force, searched an apartment in Tallaght.
The planned raid was carried out in an operation aimed at the supply and distribution in the north inner city, a garda spokesman said.
A 25-year-old man was arrested and was being held at Store Street Garda Station, under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.
Three men and a woman are still in custody after they were arrested yesterday in a separate raid in which gardaí discovered between 10 and 15kg of cocaine and 30kg of a mixing agent.
The seizure, from a premises on the Maynooth Road, Kildare, had a potential street value of €1m, gardaí said.
In Rosslare, officers from Revenue’s Customs service today seized 123,000 ecstasy tablets valued at €1.23m, which they believe were destined for the Dublin market.
The drugs were discovered by sniffer dog ‘Dillon’ and were found hidden in the side panels of a Dutch-registered car which had arrived on the ferry from Cherbourg.
A man and a woman from Holland, who are both in their early 20s, were arrested and are being held at Wexford garda station, a Revenue spokesman said.
