A ROUTINE Garda checkpoint in a Co Cork town has led to the seizure of 50,000 cigarettes.

Customs officers at Dublin Airport have seized €700,000 under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Officers from Revenue’s Customs service from Dublin Port today discovered one million contraband cigarettes valued at over €300,000.

Gardaí today seized cocaine with a street value of €100,000 and two shotguns in a raid aimed at disrupting the drugs trade in Dublin.
