THE country’s best livestock criss-crossed the country last weekend in search of rosettes, as the agricultural show season built to its peak.

CLARE horse exhibitor PJ Meere captured the 2,000 Irish Shows Association three-year-old filly championship at Bantry Show.

IT’S a long way from Tipperary to Ballynahinch, Co Down, but it was the route to victory for Lorenzo, June Lewis’s Bewley’s Hotels supreme hunter champions at Dublin Horse Show.

A MARE of the Co Down was a hit on the banks of Bantry Bay last Sunday, when Desmond Gibson from Dromara won the 2,000 Murnane and O’Shea three year old filly championship, contested by the winners of 23 qualifier shows.

TIPPERARY’S reputation as a breeding ground for quality sport horses was enhanced at last week’s Dublin Horse Show.

THE busiest showing week of the year is underway with the Kerrygold Dublin Horse show at the RDS, and the Powers Gold Label National Livestock Show in Tullamore, on Sunday, as the feature events.
