THE country’s best livestock criss-crossed the country last weekend in search of rosettes, as the agricultural show season built to its peak.

Winning exhibitors were as follows:

Kildysart Show: Two Year Old filly All Ireland Championship: Desmond Gibson, Dromara, Co Down, by Big Sink Hope (TB) out of Ballard Lady (ISH) by Sillot Hill (RID), bred by Donal O’Brien, Kifenora, Co Clare.

Reserve: Margaret Jeffers (owner-breeder), Drinagh, Co Wexford, by Lucky Valier (ISH) out of Corrib Eva (ISH), by Salluceva (TB).

Roscommon Show: €1,350 Irish Draught yearling filly championship: Eddie Murphy (owner-breeder), Lecarrow, Charlestown, Co Mayo, by Crannagh Hero (RID) out of Holly Daisy (RID), by Ginger Holly (RID).

Reserve: Pat Finn, Frenchfort, Oranmore, Co Galway, by Castana (RID) out of Princess Royale (RID), by Uibh Fhaili (RID). Breeder: Francis Lafferly.

Connemara Pony Show, Clifden, supreme and confined champion: John Noel Mullins, Sheeauns, Cleggan, Co Galway’s Kingstown Molly, by Coral Prince out of Kingstown Molly, bred by Joe Gorham, Glenbrickeen Farm, Clifden.

Reserve supreme champion: Currachmore Cashel by Rosenaharley Rowley out of Tolka Bridge, bred by owner Eamonn Burke, Carrowbrowne, Castlegar, Co Galway.

Confined reserve champion: Inverin Rocky by Monaghanstown Pat out of Callowfeenish Mist, owned by Sean Faherty, Aille, Inverin, Co. Galway and bred by John J Mulkerrins, Callowfeenish, Carna.
