Tipperary's minor footballers did enough on home turf to qualify for the phase one final of the Munster championship: but only just.

It is expected that these sides will meet again before the championship is out should Tipperary overcome Limerick in their final round-robin meeting, so it comes as no great shock that this 60 minutes resembled a game of cat and mouse, with neither side keen to go at full tilt.

Captain Kyle Shelly kicked 2-8 (2-2 from play) as a strong, skilful and speedy Tipperary had the two points wrapped up by half-time.

Ballyhea can approach their Premier IHC quarter-final with Ballinhassig in confident mood after eliminating Kilbrittain at Coachford on Saturday.

A strong second half performance from Kerry earned them the Munster JFC title at Hennessy Memorial Park, Miltown Malbay last evening against a Clare side that led at half-time but had to play with 14 men for much of the time after the break.

Last year’s defeated Cork County SHC finalists CIT advanced to the fourth round of this year’s competition as they saw off Carbery at Páirc Uí Rinn last night.

Persistent rain and slippery underfoot conditions suggested this Cork SHC Round 2 clash would be a tight affair and that proved to be the case as Bishopstown prevailed by just a single point in Páirc Uí Chaoimh last night.

They battled deep into the Brinny darkness in miserable conditions on Saturday night, but, in the end, Kilbrittain proved extra special in this compelling Cork Premier IHC opening round contest, leaving Ballincollig to face a backdoor battle with Watergrasshill.

It was a long time coming, but Bishopstown’s first Cork SFC win over Nemo Rangers on Saturday night was surely worth the wait.
