Legal muddle

THE Law Society both regulates and represents solicitors, and stipulates that it is unprofessional and punishable for solicitors to enter into a conflict of interest.

However, the Law Society itself is a spectacular extreme of conflict of interest, ie regulating and representing solicitors, even corrupt ones.

That leaves us served by a profession that is ‘regulated’ by a party in complete conflict with its own fundamentals. Why does the term ‘running away with the rule book’ come to mind.
