Can Donegal afford the high moral ground?

BRIAN Flanagan (Irish Examiner letters, March 7) gets his facts wrong in his advocacy of a boycott.

Israelis may not care for the Iraqi regime, and they are not keen to see a war, but they are the most likely to suffer chemical or gas attacks from Iraq, which continues to use the poor Palestinian Arabs as an excuse.

They certainly don't need to be lumped in with the USA and UK in Mr Flanagan's lenten love/hate fest.

The figures he gives for possible casualties are based on supposition.

The last time I was in his home town of Buncrana, the tourist industry was suffering. Let him start at home by welcoming all the British, American (and Israeli) tourists he can find in his home town.

I don't feel so inclined to revisit beautiful Donegal again, if his views represent the local populace. If they do, soon he will be on a plane out of dear old neutral, 'moral' Ireland, like so many more of us in the past.

Morality is one thing responsibility is another. Brian, you can't have your cake and eat it!
