Are Killinaskully’s critics a jealous lot?

PAT SHORTT’S comedy series Killinaskully has been panned by some self-important and untalented critics.

Are Killinaskully’s critics a jealous lot?

Why can't these people write a TV series themselves, and show us how it should be done? If they are as well-informed on theatrical matters as they think they are, they would know that Killinaskully juxtaposes very comfortably with Sean O'Casey's 'Purple Dust.' These critics, obviously, have never heard of this play one of O'Casey's lesser-known works.

Surely the Killinaskully viewing figures speak for themselves. Could it be that, once again, as with the Nice Treaty referendum, the entire population of Ireland are idiots and have to be corrected?

A more likely explanation is jealousy. Pat Shortt, an extremely funny man, has, like Eddie Hobbs, caught the public's imagination.

The Killinaskully critics will always be nobodies.
