How was it for you or yours? The Leaving Cert results dropped yesterday, bringing joy and depair, satisfaction and disappointment. On one level it remains a stain on the education system that one exam can be cast as having a hugely disproportionate impact on a young person’s life.

Plans are afoot to reform the whole thing, but that, like much else in public life, appears to be happening at a snail’s pace.
