Girl rescued from sea during Storm Kathleen

A young girl had to be rescued from the sea after getting into difficulty in the middle of Storm Kathleen.
The child was at the east pier at Dun Laoghaire in Dublin on Saturday evening when she got into difficulty at around 8.20pm.
Dún Laoghaire Coast Guard was alerted, as were the RNLI, gardaí, the National Ambulance Service, and Dublin Fire Brigade.
Footage on social media shows RNLI volunteers reaching the girl and pulling her from the stormy waters.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed that she had to be taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

In a statement, they said: “Gardaí assisted emergency services in the rescue of a female child who had gone into the water at Dun Laoghaire harbour on Saturday evening.
“The child was rescued from the water by emergency services and taken to hospital in South Dublin to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.”
A status yellow wind warning remains in place for three counties on Sunday as Storm Kathleen exits the shores.
Donegal, Mayo, and west Galway will see high winds until 4pm, with Met Éireann advising there could be some travel disruption.
