Cork traffic and weather: Cooler conditions and outbreaks of rain expected

Temperatures are expected to drop slightly across Cork on Tuesday, with isolated showers predicted across the region.

Met Éireann has said while it has been cloudy for the majority of this morning, there will be some sunny spells throughout this afternoon.

Temperatures will range between 17C and 20C with light to moderate westerly winds.

Cloud will develop later this evening, with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle.

The national forecaster has said that the rain will then move eastwards overnight with clear spells and isolated showers into tomorrow morning.

Temperatures will drop between 11C and 13C with light to moderate southwest winds.

Traffic 

Meanwhile, traffic across Cork city has been light this morning, with little to no congestion on major city links including the N40 and the M28.

However, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has advised motorists to expect delays on the M8 due to roadworks.

A section of the motorway, between Junction 7 at Cashel (Northbound) to Junction 6 at Thurles (Northbound), will be closed from today until September 5 from 8am to 6pm each day.

Outlook for coming days 

Wednesday will see a mix of sunny spells and showers, with some showers possibly turning heavy.

Met Éireann has said that showers will become more isolated in the evening, with highest temperatures of 16C to 19C.

Showers will become less frequent overnight with clear spells also expected across the region.

Temperatures will reach lows of 11C to 14C, with moderate northerly winds, feeling fresher near the coast.

Thursday will start off as breezy, with sunny spells and widespread showers, some of which will turn heavy before the evening.

Highest temperatures of 15C to 19C are expected, with moderate to fresh northerly winds.

Thursday night will be mainly dry with some isolated light showers.

Lowest temperatures of 8C to 11C are predicted.

Further into the week, Friday will be bright with spells of sunshine and well scattered showers, with temperatures ranging between 14C and 19C with moderate northerly winds.

Similarly, Saturday will be a bright day with spells of sunshine and scattered light showers.

Highest temperatures of 15C to 19C with light to moderate north to northwest winds predicted.
