PSNI appeal witnesses after string of armed robberies

A man arrested over a string of four armed robberies in two days in south Belfast has been bailed by police.

Nobody was hurt in the commercial raids but the shop staff were left "badly shaken", the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) have said.

The first robbery took place at around 8.30am on Thursday in the Ormeau Road area of the city, followed by two more in Botanic Avenue at 9.55am and 8.30pm.

A fourth business, Vivo newsagents in Ormeau Road, was targeted by a man wielding a knife at 4pm on Friday, officers said.

A 23-year-old man has been released on bail pending further inquiries and officers have appealed for witnesses.
