Murder caller warned Garda they would 'do it again', court hears
A call made to a Cork Garda station shortly after a woman was murdered threatened a Garda the caller would "do it again" if the gardaí didn't go to where they said the murdered woman could be found, a murder trial jury at the Central Criminal court heard today.
Garda sergeant Michelle O'Sullivan told the court that she received a call from a man at 11.45pm on July 15 2002 who spoke some words she would "always remember".
"The caller said to go to Leitrim St, 'you will find the body of a murdered person there. We will do it again if you don't go'," Sgt O'Sullivan said.
"There was nothing distinctive about the voice. I didn't get any opportunity to ask any questions, the caller hung up," she said.
"It wasn't a very nice phone call to receive. The words were lodged in my brain. Those were the words said to me and I'll always remember them" she added.
Thomas Penkert, aged 21, and Brian Walsh, aged 22, have pleaded not guilty to the murder of Nora Kiely on July 15 2002 at her home on Leitrim St., Cork city.
But they have both admitted robbing Ms Kiely of less than €20 in cash and two items of jewellery.
The two men have denied a charge that they attempted to enter another flat in the building with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm on another tenant, Ms Tatton the same day.
The two accused shared a flat also in the same building on Leitrim St.
The trial continues today before Mr Justice Diarmuid O'Donovan and a jury of six women and six men.
