Reports on Garda-IRA collusion to be published this week
The Government is reported to be planning to publish the Cory reports on alleged collusion between the Gardaí and the IRA later this week.
Peter Cory, a retired Canadian judge, was appointed by the Irish and British governments to investigate six controversial killings that have led to claims of collusion between security forces and paramilitaries.
They include the murder of Catholic solicitors Pat Finucane and Rosemary Nelson, the murder of LVF leader Billy Wright inside the Maze Prison and the murders of two RUC officers following a meeting with their garda counterparts in 1989.
Four of the murders investigated by Mr Cory involve allegations of collusion between British security forces and loyalist paramilitaries.
The reports on these cases were presented to the British government in recent weeks.
The other two killings investigated involve allegations of collusion between the Gardaí and the IRA.
The reports into these killings have been presented to the Government.
Reports in the media have suggested that Mr Cory has uncovered evidence that members of the Gardaí may have provided information that helped the IRA murder two RUC officers, Bob Buchanan and Harry Breen, in 1989.
