Food is the focus of a day-long business seminar in West Cork next week, featuring the high-profile Happy Pear brothers and Masterchef judge, Nick Munier.

The event at Inchydoney Lodge & Spa near Clonakilty on Thursday week is part of Local Enterprise Week which runs from March 7-11.

The event “Well Seasoned; Building a Better Business” will examine what it takes to build a successful food brand and how food entrepreneurs can take advantage of future trends.

It will feature authors, cooks and businessmen brothers Steven and David Flynn, also known as The Happy Pear brothers along with restaurateur and TV food judge Mr Munier.

Five local businesses will also take part in an open forum panel discussion with Mr Munier.

Other events throughout the week include Trading Online Vouchers seminars in Mitchelstown and Carrigaline, a motivational business event in Mallow, as well as an intellectual property seminar, networking events, and a special craft event “Making It in Craft — maximising your sales” which will take place in Skibbereen.

As part of International Women’s day on Tuesday next, a new women in business programme will be launched with an information morning in Fernhill House Hotel in Clonakilty.

The launch of a Network for Cork’s Young Entrepreneurs will also take place on Thursday week in Cork City Gaol.

The events are all part of a line-up organised by the Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Cork North and West as part of Local Enterprise Week.

Involving all 31 Local Enterprise Offices nationally, the week’s events are aimed at anyone thinking of starting a business or growing SMEs.

Workshops, seminars, networking evenings and business advice clinics are also included.

Last year, Cork North and West local enterprise offices approved grants for SME’s totalling almost €600,000, an increase of 28% from 2014.

The offices, based in Mallow and Clonakilty also hosted 89 training events and 98 business advice clinics in 2015 which attracted more than 1,700 small business owners.
