Ó Snodaigh says son is ‘recovering well’
Gardaí said Ferghal Ó Snodaigh was lucky he was not killed when he was stabbed in the chest in an apparent row over a computer game.
Ferghal received stab wounds to his chest and upper arm in an attack early on Sunday morning at the family home on Naas Rd, Bluebell.
The attacker fled the Ó Snodaigh house on Dublin’s southside, but gardaí know his identity and are tracking him down.
Mr Ó Snodaigh and his wife were out at the time and went to St James’s Hospital as soon as they heard about the incident.
In a statement yesterday, the Dublin South-Central TD thanked all those who had contacted him after the incident over the weekend.
“I want to thank all those who have sent messages of support to me and my family since news of this incident broke yesterday,” Mr Ó Snodaigh said.
“Fearghal is recovering well in hospital and we look forward to having him home again soon.”
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a father-of-one, believed to be a security guard, miraculously escaped with his life after being shot three times on the doorstep at his father’s home in Co Meath on Sunday night.
The 39-year-old was blasted in the upper body and leg after he answered a call to the door of the house in a rural area outside Slane just before 10pm.
Emergency services were alerted and the injured man was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment of what were described as non- life-threatening injuries.
Gardaí are keeping an open mind in relation to the attack and have appealed for the public’s assistance.
