40,000 attend pro-life protest

Up to 40,000 protesters took to the streets of Dublin over the weekend against the contentious new abortion legislation.

Anti-abortion groups weaved through the capital for a mass rally, five days before the law is expected to be passed in the Dáil.

A huge Garda operation was in place as the protesters walked by pro-choice demonstrators who had lined some of the route along O’Connell St.
