CAB puts pressure on gangs

MORE pressure is being piled on organised gangs in Limerick with the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) finalising court papers to confiscate huge assets from known criminals.

CAB puts pressure on gangs

The action follows Operation Platinum last May in which 120 houses and 20 business premises in Ballinacurra Weston, Southill, Moyross, Kileely and St Mary’s Park were searched.

The chairman of the city’s joint policing committee, Councillor Kevin Kiely said: “I am delighted the CAB have taken action against the drugs gangs in Limerick who have made millions from their ill gotten gains by peddling drugs. They have caused misery and pain. The gardaí are getting to grips with the drugs gangs who have caused misery to so many families in Limerick.”

CAB have already secured court orders to keep huge sums of cash seized during Operation Platinum.

CAB have a team who are investigating the unaccounted wealth of certain individuals, many of whom draw social welfare and live in rented council houses.
