Irish ‘made considerable contribution to Britain’

IRISH workers played a key role in rebuilding Britain after the Blitz, President Mary McAleese said yesterday.

The difficulties and hardship faced by thousands of emigrants forced to move to London in search of work were also highlighted by President McAleese.

The Irish community’s contribution to British society is a source of pride to all of us, she said at the launch of offices for Immigrant Counselling and Psychotherapy in London.
