Sights set on grain mills

ONE of Cork’s biggest builders is seeking to demolish grain mills in Midleton and construct 102 apartments, a village square, community centre and childcare facilities.

Blarney-based Coleman Brothers Development Ltd has just applied to Cork County Council for permission to proceed with the multi-million euro project at Ballynacorra, Midleton.

The proposal includes retail development, childcare facilities for up to 56 children and the provision of a 307-space car park.

Meanwhile, another Blarney-based company, D & J Builders Ltd is seeking to construct 36 homes at Grenagh.

Conmar Developments Ltd has its sights set on a village near Fermoy. The company is proposing to build 53 one-and-a-half and two storey homes, which will include townhouses at Coolagown. In addition Conmar Developments wants to construct three two and three-storey retail and commercial units.

Dublin developer Lorcan Tieran has his eyes on Castlemartyr. He has lodged an application with officials for 13 two-and-a-half storey and 13 three-storey homes in the village.

Lombardstown, near Mallow, could be set for 41 new homes if a local developer gets the green light.

William Lombard is seeking permission to construct seven two-storey detached houses, 22 semi-detached and 12 two-storey townhouses. In addition he is also seeking permission to develop 10 serviced sites.

Rios Properties, Garretstown, has received the go-ahead for 34 new homes at Love Lane, Charleville.

The company will build 12 two-storey houses in three terraces and 22 two-storey semi-detached houses on the same site.
