A MAJOR environmental row is about to re-ignite in Co Meath following the decision by Indaver Ireland to reapply for permission to increase the size of its waste incinerator just one month after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved the original plan.

A waste management company is to lodge a new planning application seeking to increase the size of a controversial incineration plant being built in Co Meath, it emerged today.

BRIAN HANRATTY (Irish Examiner letters, November 3) is incorrect in his statement that Indaver Ireland’s municipal waste incinerator in Co Meath will “pose a new threat” to the heritage of the Boyne valley.

INDAVER Ireland may indeed have conducted an assessment of the impact of emissions from its proposed incinerator, as pointed out by Jackie Keaney (Irish Examiner letters, August 27).

IT is the view of Darina Allen and Allan Navratil (The Irish Examiner, August 13) that the Government has failed in its role to be a competent and efficient administrator with regard to waste management issues, in particular the requirement to deal with our hazardous waste.
