WHO in favour of modern incineration

WE wish to respond to comments made by Nick Folley (Irish Examiner letters, October 13) regarding our proposed waste management facility in Ringaskiddy.
WHO in favour of modern incineration

Truck traffic generated by the development would be 75 vehicles per day and not 2,000.

Mr Folley also wrote that our incinerator is more dangerous than smoking. The World Health Organisation has stated: "Local authorities should ban smoking in all areas where they can."

The WHO also says modern incineration is a safe form of waste management and "it is therefore possible to locate incinerators close to densely populated areas".
