Incinerator will meet air quality directives
Ms D’Alton said that the ‘thermal inversion’ phenomena experienced in Cork Harbour on August 8 occurs frequently and will favour the concept of ‘containment’ of airborne emissions from our incinerator proposed for Ringaskiddy.
As part of the environmental impact assessment for the Ringaskiddy waste management facility, we carried out an extensive air quality assessment which examined the impact of emissions from the site under the full range of meteorological conditions, including inversions. This extensive assessment found that the facility will operate well below all EU ambient air quality directives under any of the meteorological conditions experienced there.
