The eight buyer businesses examined via the survey are: Aldi Ireland, BWG Foods, Dunnes Stores, Lidl Ireland, Marks & Spencer Ireland, Musgrave Group, Sysco Ireland, and Tesco Ireland.

The supplier survey conducted by the Agri-Food Regulator is now open.

The Agri-food Regulator is again seeking participants in its supplier survey, which saw 14% of suppliers say they experienced unfair trading practices last year.

The online survey allows suppliers to provide feedback to the Agri-Food Regulator about their experiences of trading with eight specific buyers.

The eight buyer businesses are:

  • Aldi Ireland
  • BWG Foods
  • Dunnes Stores
  • Lidl Ireland
  • Marks & Spencer Ireland
  • Musgrave Group
  • Sysco Ireland
  • Tesco Ireland

The survey is open until February 18 and is looking for respondents who directly supply the eight buyer businesses, or indirectly supply them via selling to a retailer or wholesaler that ultimately sells to the buyer businesses.

The survey is entirely confidential, and the buyers will not know that a supplier has completed the survey.

The 14% of respondents from last year’s survey who said they experienced unfair trading practices cited the lack of awareness of their rights, and the wish to maintain long-term relationships as key reasons for not raising the issues with buyers.

Reportedly, less than half of all respondents to last year's survey were aware the Agri-Food Regulator operates a confidential complaint process.
