THE Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers Association has claimed that farmers in some counties have been waiting up to two years to have their silage plastics collected.

General secretary Eddie Punch also said that some county councils do not provide recycling facilities for wooden pallets and tractor batteries. Mr Punch called on the Department of the Environment, local authorities and the Irish Farm Films Producers Group (IFFPG) to provide a better quality service in the collection and recycling of inorganic waste from the farm.

Mr Punch said inorganic farm waste disposal was becoming increasingly difficult and costly for farmers.
