The board of Tirlán, the organisation formerly known as Glanbia Co-op, has announced Seán Molloy as its new chief executive succeeding Jim Bergin in the role.

Mr Bergin held numerous chief executive positions over the years including at Glanbia Ireland.

In November 2021, he became chief executive of Glanbia Co-operative Society Ltd which ultimately became Tirlán.

John Murphy, chairman of Tirlán, thanked Mr Bergin for his efforts over the years, saying he can be “particularly proud of his success in establishing Tirlán as an independent, 100% farmer-owned co-op”.

Mr Molloy is currently the chief ingredients and agribusiness officer for Tirlán. He has been a director for the past 12 years. He will take up his new role on August 1.

Tirlán was formed following the buyout of Glanbia Ireland from Glanbia plc in 2022.

Glanbia Ireland was a joint venture between Glanbia Co-op, which owned 60%, and Glanbia plc, which owned 40%.

Tirlán spent €307m buying out the 40% stake.
