Irish companies get some Asian advice

Irish companies are being warned that success in Europe or the US does not guarantee success in the Asian marketplace.

The Asia-Ireland Chamber of Commerce, launched by President Mary McAleese in Bangkok yesterday, is hoping to arm Irish business with the knowledge it needs to make a breakthrough in the region.

A delegation representing 11 Irish organisations is promoting awareness of Irish industry on the fringes of President Mary McAleese’s tour of Thailand and Malaysia.

The trade mission is focusing on the education, financial services, and technology sectors.

A new Asia Ireland Chamber of Commerce has been formed in Bangkok to help Irish companies get a foothold in the region.

Meanwhile, the Asia Strategy Committee is organising a series of information seminars around Ireland over the coming weeks.
