Marian Walsh, the co-founder and joint chief executive of quantity surveyor and professional consultancy, Carron + Walsh, has been elected president of Waterford Chamber.

Ms Walsh from Portlaw takes the chain of office from outgoing president Eadaoin Carrick who completed her term of office at this week's AGM at the Granville Hotel in Waterford. 

The new Chamber president has called for a co-ordinated regional approach to offshore wind opportunities, including the development of a South East energy park, as well as promoting Waterford Airport, the region’s ports, transport links, SETU, and business community.

"My ambition is for people to be able to build rewarding careers, successful businesses and fulfilling lives here — and for those who have left to have compelling reasons to come home,” Ms Walsh said.

Waterford Chamber chief executive Gerard Hurley welcomed the new president and the incoming board.  

“Marian brings enormous experience, energy and commitment to the role, and I look forward to working closely with her over the coming year."

Mr Hurley also paid tribute to outgoing president Eadaoin Carrick. "I would like to thank Eadaoin for her leadership as president. She has made a significant contribution to the Chamber and to the wider business community and I have no doubt will continue to do so in the years ahead.”

Meanwhile, Waterford Chamber has announced the postponement of 'Engineering the South East Conference & Expo', which was scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 15, at SETU.  

The event, which brings together the South East’s engineering, manufacturing and technology sectors, is being postponed due to the public sector industrial action strikes planned for October 14 and the subsequent work-to-rule action. It will now take place on Thursday, March 4, 2027, at SETU Arena in Waterford.
