Open weather warning for Clarke
Darren Clarke woke up to more windy conditions at Sandwich today and a look at the early scoring in The Open told him there was more hard work ahead if he was to lift the Claret Jug at his 20th attempt.
First man out Jung-gon Hwang had double bogeys on the fourth, fifth and sixth holes – but did then come back with birdies on the next two.
The Korean was 19 over par, 24 strokes behind Clarke, who was one ahead of American Dustin Johnson with a round to go.
American Spencer Levin, who had a third round 81 in wind and rain, showed what possible in a good way on his return. He had birdies at the first, second and long seventh to improve to nine over.
