Top 10 finish for Lauren Walsh on Ladies European Tour

Séamus Power had his best result of his season on the PGA Tour as he finished in a tie for seventh at the Biltmore Championship Asheville on Sunday.

Power carded a five-under-par round of 66 yesterday to finished on 20-under overall. The West Waterford golfer is projected to move up 10 spots to 104th in the rankings. The tournament in North Carolina is the first of eight tournaments in the FedExCup Fall that determine the top 100 in the rankings who keep full cards for next season.

The event was won by Jacob Bridgeman on 26-under. The US golfer rallied from a five-shot deficit Sunday with the lowest round of his young PGA Tour career, a 10-under 61 that carried him to a two-shot victory at the Biltmore Championship Asheville. Bridgeman, whose first PGA Tour title was earlier this year at Riviera at The Genesis Invitational, became the sixth multiple winner this season.

On the Ladies European Tour, England’s Charlotte Heath held off Alessandra Fanali and compatriot Alice Hewson to win her first LET title with a two-shot victory at the La Sella Open in Alicante.

Severe weather on Saturday had forced tournament officials to reduce the event to 54 holes, with the final round taking place on Sunday in the €1m event.

Heath, who had shot a seven-under-par 65 on Friday to take a four-stroke lead, made three bogeys before sinking a crucial birdie at the last for a one-over 73 to end at 10-under.

Fanali came up just short with a final round of four under while Hewson tied for second after closing with a 70, both finishing at eight under overall.

Dubliner Lauren Walsh had a top-10 finish after a 69 brought her to a tie for seventh on five under. Áine Donegan and Sara Byrne finished on one and two over par respectively.
