Que leads Indonesia Open
Angelo Que of the Philippines made birdies on five of his first eight holes this morning to storm out to an early lead at the weather-interrupted Indonesia Open.
Heavy rain and the threat of lightning resulted in a two-hour stoppage shortly after the co-sanctioned US$1.25m (€982,200) tournament teed off early today in Bali.
When play eventually resumed just after 9am, Que teed off on the back nine and made a good start with a birdie on his first hole, the 10th.
The 30-year-old from Manila parred the next three holes before running off four consecutive birdies from the 14th to 17th to move two shots ahead of the British trio of Simon Khan, Seve Benson and Jamie Donaldson.
Khan made a quick start with birdies on three of his first four holes on the front nine. He dropped a stroke when he bogeyed the fifth but picked up his fourth birdie of the round on the seventh to reach the turn on three-under.
Playing in the same group as his English compatriot Khan, Benson made three birdies in his first six holes but dropped a shot back after bogeying the eighth. However, a birdie on the ninth put him back in a tie for second.
Lying just a further stroke back on two under was a group of seven players including Ireland's Gary Murphy, England's Miles Tunnicliff and Steve Webster, Scotland's Richie Ramsay, and local favourite Rory Hie.
Daniel Chopra of Sweden was one under through nine holes while Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee made the turn on one-over.
Nick Dougherty struggled after teeing off on the back nine, bogeying three holes to reach the turn on three-over.
