Forty-two minutes into last year’s Down league final between Kilcoo and St Mary’s Burren, all hell broke loose in Mayobridge.

What started out as a bushfire of bad blood soon developed into an inferno of vitriol and rage that spread all over the pitch. Six players were eventually sent off. The match should have been abandoned. There was no surprise when it wasn’t.
