As with Edwin and Sean Edogbo at Munster, there is a tendency to see the similarities in the Osbornes as players first.

Players coming through the club pathway and all the way through to the senior ranks are still outliers in Leinster where the reliance on the schools system remains entrenched almost 30 years on from the dawn of professionalism.

It’s a status quo that persists despite growing efforts to reduce the gap between the two routes, but there isn’t any getting away from the fact that the elite schools structure still enjoys advantages of resources, facilities and greater time on the paddock.
