Mayo GAA chairman Seamus Tuohy passes away 

Tuohy, head of the county's executive, died on Tuesday after a battle with illness.

Mayo GAA is in mourning following the death of chairman Seamus Tuohy. 

Tuohy, head of the county's executive, passed away on Tuesday after a battle with illness. 

Tuohy’s impact on the GAA scene in Mayo cannot be understated, with years of service given across different roles prior to his ascension to chairman in 2021. 

Breaffy club man Tuohy oversaw the Mayo senior footballers breaking a 75-year drought to win Sam Maguire this year when Andy Moran's side beat Kerry in Croke Park. 

Mayo County Council have postponed the planned civic reception, due to take place on Friday, for Mayo’s All-Ireland winners.

“On behalf of the Cathaoirleach, the Elected Members, Chief Executive, Kevin Kelly, and the staff of Mayo County Council, I wish to extend our sincere sympathies to the Tuohy family and to his colleagues and friends throughout Mayo GAA at this difficult time,” a statement from the Council read.
