An Dearthair Og can get off mark
Given one spin in point-to-points, he has now run twice on the track and appears to have some potential.
His latest effort was the least impressive of the two, finishing a disappointing four and a half lengths second behind Five Point Plan in a bumper at Clonmel. It’s a contest which hasn’t worked out at all. Chances are, however, that the selection simply isn’t a bumper horse and it may pay to give greater consideration to his outing prior to that, over flights at Thurles.
Going off an unconsidered 25-1 shot, An Dearthair Og ran prominently throughout to take third behind Edeymi and Chasing Shadows.
Edeymi gave the form a major boost when runner-up behind Une Artiste in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham, while Chasing Shadows is generally a consistent enough sort.
De Bromhead might also supply the solution to the three mile Schooling At Tipperary Maiden Hurdle with the ex-point-to-point winner, You Must Know Me.
He was well backed to take a bumper at Navan, but was unable to cope with Irish Thistle and could be the answer to what looks a competitive affair.
John Joe Walsh’s Jack Absolute, who has been performing well over fences, is the choice in the TipperaryRaces.com Handicap Hurdle. He runs here off a mark of 101 and his current rating as a chaser is 27lbs higher at 128.
The first section of the Follow @TipperaryRaces On Twitter Maiden Hurdle may be best left to Edward O’Grady’s Tobar Na Gaoise. Successful twice on the flat for Jim Bolger, he ran a nice sort of race at Leopardstown in January when sixth to Darroun and subsequent Triumph Hurdle runner-up, Hisaabaat.
