Angry Fans

The Examiner’s football correspondent Liam Mackey likes a good argument when he hears it, and he’s got strong views of his own. Today, and every Tuesday, he will be acting as referee on your opinions on Planet Football. Let him know what you think and he’ll argue the toss with you. We’ll be offering a free sports prize to the star contribution each week.

No prizes for guessing this week’s hot topic . . . that miserable performance in Cyprus. We’ve got contributors who are for and against Staunton; an Eminem wannabe who wants to offer Stan counselling; someone who looks to the Scots for hope and some guff about the Premiership.

Letter of the week goes to Peter MacSweeney of Cobh for a nice line in Real Madrid putdowns. Let’s have an address Peter so we can send on the glittering prize.

THE biggest shambles in the country are our health service and our football team. The Irish solution to those problems seems to be to sack the manager of the football team and give a bonus to the manager of the health service.

Why can’t we just seek out the best health system in the world and the best system for producing quality footballers and copy them. Simple as that. Maybe then Liam we will have a health service that can work and a football team that can play.
