Fergal McCormack and Kieran Morrison appointed Cork under-20 and minor managers for 2027

Former Cork hurlers Fergal McCormack and Kieran Morrison are set to take up the roles of under-20 and minor managers for 2027. 

Both members of the 1999 All-Ireland SHC-winning side, Mallow's McCormack will be put forward for a two-year term, while St Catherine's clubman Morrison will have an initial one-year term with the option of a second.

McCormack was the minor manager in 2025, guiding Cork to the Munster crown after beating Waterford.

A county SHC winner with Avondhu in 1996, McCormack was a minor selector under Paudie Murray in 2022.

McCormack replaces Noel Furlong in the role, who had former 'keeper Donal Óg Cusack as his coach. Despite Diarmuid O'Sullivan - currently involved with Sarsfields - also being linked with the gig, Mallow's McCormack's name is the one that has been put forward. 

As previously reported, Seanie McGrath of Glen Rovers is set to join Morrison's minor ticket, having coached the 2010-born players alongside the Catherine's man.

Having had them at under-16 level this year, the pair will bring them through to minor next year.

A Cork GAA statement read: "The Cork GAA Executive Committee is recommending Fergal McCormack (Mallow) for appointment as under-20 hurling manager on a two-year term, and Kieran Morrison (St. Catherine’s) as minor hurling manager on a one-year term, with the option of a second year.

"Both recommendations will be brought before the next Cork County Committee meeting on October 6th for ratification.

"Details of the respective selectors will be announced in due course."
