I THINK Caroline O’Doherty got it about right – ‘The Spire is best admired from afar’ (Irish Examiner, Jan 22).

I would suggest 160 miles as the ideal distance!

The most wonderful thing about the spire is not that “it is lovely, big, bright and proud”, but that it is NOT here in Cork.
