Education trade’ is open to abuse
That delegation is oriented towards the “education trade” or the recruiting of Chinese “students”.
The problem with this particular trade is that it involves quite large-scale immigration, allegedly temporary but with grave dangers of abuse.
In a report commissioned by the Department of Justice from the International Organisation for Migration, that body quotes the aphorism: “There is nothing quite so permanent as temporary migration.”
The Chinese population in Ireland is estimated at some 65,000 people.
That is sufficient of any one demographic.
It is questionable how much higher that demographic should be allowed to go and a further influx must be contingent on a certainty of their returning home.
It is vital as much effort goes into policing the “educational trade” as to promoting it.
